About Write4Life

We believe in the power of stories to open minds, build confidence and change lives. Write4Life creates opportunities for young people to read, write and publish their own stories—because their voices matter.

Our Philosophy

Literacy is more than simply learning to read and write.

Much of the conversation around literacy focuses on what young people cannot do: reading levels, assessments, examinations and deficits.

At Write4Life, we begin somewhere else.

We believe that young people become readers when they discover stories they genuinely want to read, and become writers when they realise that their own stories matter.

Reading and writing are not simply school subjects or skills for the workplace; they are ways of understanding the world, expressing ideas, building confidence and connecting with others.

Research has consistently shown that young people who read for enjoyment are more likely to become skilled readers, confident writers and successful learners across the curriculum.

Our work is built on this belief.

By making reading and writing meaningful, relevant and engaging, we help young people develop habits that last a lifetime.

Our Story

Write4Life was established in 2024 to expand opportunities for young people to read, write and publish their work.

In 2026, Write4Life was awarded the management of Fundza.mobi, building on more than thirteen years of experience in digital literacy and youth publishing.

Today, Write4Life combines the reach of one of South Africa's leading digital literacy platforms with teacher development, community programmes and publishing to support literacy across the country.

Our Vision

A South Africa where every young person reads with confidence, writes with enthusiasm, and where learning is creative, imaginative and enjoyable.

Our Mission

To grow a new generation of readers and writers by:

  • Inspiring positive literacy practices
  • Creating opportunities to share stories
  • Developing materials that ignite a love of learning
